Brindle had no luck finding a forever family – until he found the couple named JD and Rachel Aument.
Despite years of shelter life, the rescue dog instantly reverted to puppyhood once he moved in with the married couple. Brindle was ecstatic to be with his new family, including his brother, a German Shepherd named Xander.
Between his parents, he developed a close relationship with his dad and eventually became his favorite. As for Rachel, she maintained a special connection with Xander.
In 2018, JD received a new assignment overseas, as a firefighter for the Army Reserves. The entire family felt heartbroken, yet Brindle was the most affected of them all.
For over nine months, Brindle was virtually inconsolable. Oftentimes, he positioned by the front window whimpering in sorrow. Perhaps, he thought he could catch a glimpse of his dad arriving any day.
It crushed JD’s heart to witness his pal so devastated back home. Soon enough, he hatched an idea to repay Brindle for his leave.
Rummaging through his pile of clothes, JD retrieved the stinkiest shirt he could find and mailed it to Pennsylvania right away.
Once the shirt arrived, Brindle went into hysterics! Rachel recorded Brindle’s reaction as he fiercely inhaled the shirt and rub against it – to the amusement of his brother.
His precious reaction didn’t cease there. The following day, Brindle tugged the shirt wherever he went and even had it close-by during naps. With some assistance from his mom, he wore the shirt proudly around the house. Of course, Rachel made sure to cherish the shirt for herself from time to time.
Thankfully, after ten months of separation, JD returned from the military. Their touching reunion drove Brindle wild! Since then, the best of friends are always at each other’s side.
