For Mark Starmer, dogs are heaven-sent.
Mark Starmer and his wife Sharon have dedicated their lives to rescuing dogs across North America and bringing them together to live in harmony. All in all, they have rescued 46 dogs and brought them all in the 4-acre land in British Columbia they bought for the dogs.
Most of the dogs the couple adopted are old dogs with poor health. The couple wants to give these senior dogs the best time of their lives before they cross the rainbow bridge.
Mark and Sharon felt that they have a passion for dogs that were abandoned by their previous owners after they had their first rescue dog in 2004. Slowly, the number of dogs that they have rescued grow in size. Authorities in Alberta, Canada, were alarmed by the increasing number of dogs in their property and asked the couple to get rid of the dogs.
The couple cannot get rid of the dogs; instead, they decided to leave Alberta and move to British Columbia.
All of the dogs live with the Starmers inside the house. The 4-acre vacant lot is for the dogs to roam around, to get their daily exercise, and to do their potty. Running around the lot is heaven for these dogs!
Mark admitted that caring for 46 dogs is not easy. It is very costly, tiring, and messy. Sick dogs need extra medical care, and the expenses are no joke.
The couple is thankful for friends who also support their cause by bringing in supplies for the dogs.
Despite the vast number of dogs under their care, the couple isn’t closing its doors for future adoptions. However, this time, they would also like to look for families who would like to adopt the dogs under their care.
May you continue to inspire others, Mark and Sharon!
