A Dog Who Was Abandoned On The Beach Found His Forever Home

Scott Fannin July 6, 2020

A dog named Murray was left abandoned on a beach on the southern coast of Puerto Rico. The dog was infected with a virus called canine distemper, but he not only survived the disease but also found a forever home.

Murray was born in Puerto Rico. When the dog contracted a disease called canine distemper, his family abandoned him on the dead dog beach, which is a place where animals are left for dead. Distemper is a virus that destroys the nervous and respiratory systems, and that is also exactly what it did to Murray. The virus also cost Murray his teeth, and because of that, he is now unable to keep his tongue in his mouth. The dog’s head also got a bit disfigured because of the virus.

A foundation named the Sato Project got the news of the dog’s plight and traced him. Later, Murray was taken to the United States for adoption, where the pooch met the Gallant family. The family adopted the dog and gave him the love and care that he deserved.

“The dog’s tongue out is just the cutest thing, and also his crooked features, and if you look at Murray’s head closely, you notice his ears aren’t aligned right. The dog’s quirks make him even cuter and more special,” Mackenzie Gallant told Barcroft media.

Murray began his life with the Massachusetts family as a foster, and the family was quick to make an Instagram account of the adorable pooch.

“We made his Instagram for family and friends to follow, but over the past year, Murray has gained a lot of followers and also helped raise awareness about rescue dogs, The Sato Project, and distemper,” Gallant said.

In the end, Murray got a loving and caring family while the family got a happy and playful dog.
