Concerned citizens contacted Hope For Paws about a severely matted homeless dog found roaming the streets of L.A. Eldad Hagar, and Sylvia Kelegian immediately responded to the call and went to the given location.
Bad Situation
Eldad realized just how severe the dog’s situation when he saw how clumped the poor pooch’s fur was. It even resembled the color of the ground that the dog was lying on.
Eldad cautiously and slowly approached the dog. With a gentle snare on hand, he attempted to capture the pooch. The dog resisted the gentle snare, snarling at Eldad and even biting at the snare.
Capture and Cleanup
Unfazed, Eldad persisted and eventually got the gentle snare around the dog’s neck. Sylvia noticed that the dog’s ears seem to be caught as well, but with the pooch’s fur being so matted, it was hard to tell.
Eldad and Sylvia made sure that the dog was comfortable enough with them before they move the poor animal. While waiting, Eldad checked the dog for any injuries. Fortunately, not finding any, he then checked the pooch’s gender. While the thick matted fur made it a bit difficult, Eldad found out that the dog is a girl.
Eldad decided to name the dog Dolly. Both he and Sylvia can’t believe the amount of matting on Dolly’s fur. Sylvia even had a hard time determining where one of the poor pooch’s front feet is underneath all the clumps of hair. Eldad deduced that Dolly has been on her own for quite some time now, and it’s a good thing they already got to rescue her.
New Home for Dolly
Once Dolly trusted her rescuers enough to be moved, Eldad took her to the car and drove her directly to the groomers. Huge amounts of fur got clipped from Dolly to the point where she looked like an entirely different dog altogether once groomed. She didn’t even resemble the homeless dog they had rescued from the street.
Finally, happy again, Dolly showed that she is a fun, smart, and lovable dog. This led to her finding her forever home in just a short time after being rescued.
