A lot of people dread getting old. It might seem silly, but it’s a real fear that we hoomans need to handle. This might not be true for dogs, although we don’t know that for sure.
This senior Shar Pei dog named Watson is twelve-years-old. He’s calmer and more patient than the younger dogs, and that’s a plus for his little ward named Arthur.
This duo loved to take walks in the woods near their house. Having a pet for a walking buddy is great, but having a senior pal is even better.
Watson, in all his wisdom, guides and protects Arthur wherever they go. This kid is one of the luckiest ones out there for having a gig like this!
On this day, Arthur and Watson were taking a stroll. It was lovely out as usual, but then the afternoon just got better for the little boy.
He spotted a puddle, and while that’s not exciting for most adults, it’s a party for kids his age. Of course, he chose to walk all over it, new shoes and all.
Arthur wanted to go back and walk on the puddle again, but Watson remained standing. The boy then decided to put the leash down and went back to his newly discovered joy.
Watson kept guard while his ward ran, stomped, and walked in that puddle again and again. We think the dog knew that this is the norm for kids like Arthur, so he let him be.
What’s impressive was, Watson did not act overly protective, knowing that there’s no real harm in a little puddle. His mom won’t be happy, true, but that’s not his problem anymore.
After a while, Arthur got tired of the puddle, so he went back, picked up the leash once more, and the duo walked the rest of the way home.
