Due to the dogs’ nature of being defenseless, some people tend to maltreat them. This is a heartbreaking reality, but dogs have to endure the same with courage. This is what happened to this dog named Dory, who, after giving birth to five puppies, got dumped by her previous owners.
The mother dog and her litter of puppies got dumped at a church parking lot located in Abilene, Texas. Since it is a public place, people immediately noticed and reported the incident to the local police. The local police, meanwhile, alerted the Paw Angel Animal Rescue regarding the condition of the dogs.
After receiving the information, volunteers from the animal rescue immediately went to the area to check. When the volunteers arrived, they first gave food and water to the mother pooch. The adult pooch did not show signs of aggression, so the volunteers did not have a hard time rescuing her and the puppies.
Misty Boerger was one of the volunteers who rescued the pooch. She could not believe that people could do this kind of barbaric act. She mentioned that the pooch and her puppies do not deserve that kind of treatment. Misty, however, could not do anything but help the dogs get rescued.
The volunteers eventually named the pooch Dory. According to Misty, when they saw the adult pooch, she looked frail. Simple scrutiny on the pooch also revealed that Dory had lots of wounds on her body. With this, the volunteers brought her to a local veterinary clinic to get treatment.
After that, she and her puppies were brought to the animal shelter so that they could have a temporary shelter. Misty is now working closely with other volunteers to search for new homes for the dogs. She believes the environment at the shelter is not conducive to Dory and her puppies.
