Eileen Mitchell has a neurological condition. She definitely doesn’t let that stop her from living life to the fullest, even if she has to wear braces for her calves and special shoes.
She also loves her pet. Taking care of her Greyhound, Hazel is one of the biggest sources of joy in her life.
This is why it’s no surprise that she felt that it was time for her to adopt a second Greyhound. Unfortunately, doubt plagued her mind. Taking care of one Greyhound was hard enough, but two? The second Greyhound really needed to be a perfect fit for her lifestyle.
Looking for the right Greyhound
Swallowing her doubts, Eileen visited Stu Homer, the founder of Golden State Greyhound Adoption. She adopted Hazel from him a few years ago. Eileen told Stu that she wanted to adopt a second dog, but she emphasized that the new dog needs to be different from Hazel.
Hazel was an ex-racer and she was still incredibly active. Eileen felt that she could not handle another dog as active as Hazel, so she wanted a more quiet and docile dog. Stu told her that he understood and that he will look for a dog that meets her needs.
Finding the dog of her dreams
A few months passed. Eileen started to have second thoughts, but one night she had a peculiar dream. In this dream, she snuggled a black Greyhound. One day the phone rang, and Stu told her that he found the perfect dog. Stu introduced Eileen to Aiden.
Aiden was a shy, skinny black Greyhound who broke his leg. Like Hazel, he was an ex-racer, but unlike Hazel, he was much more relaxed. Eileen adopted him and since then Aiden is now a happy member of her family. Aiden also gained weight, so he’s not so skinny anymore. Eileen also gave him a joint supplement to help with his limp.
Hazel and Aiden are now inseparable and they always cuddle together and walk side by side. Eileen now considers welcoming Aiden in her heart as one of the best decisions she has ever made. Aiden once visited her in her dreams and he’s now cuddling with her in real life. What more could she ask for?
