TikTok Challenge Shows Amazing Transformation Of Shelter Dogs After Adoption

TikTok Challenge Shows Amazing Transformation Of Shelter Dogs After Adoption

Scott Fannin June 2, 2021

An online challenge recently surfaced on TikTok and this time, shelter dogs are the stars of the show.

The whole thing began when TikTok user Alexa asked her followers to share then-and-now photos of the fur balls that they adopted from animal shelters. Those who chanced upon her post wasted no time in sharing snaps of their shelter pups. Since her post was getting a lot of replies,  it went viral in less than a week!

Of course, the first to respond to the challenge was Alexa herself. She uploaded a photo showing how much transformation her adopted pup went through since day one. As more people submitted their entries to the challenge, the comments section transformed into an online gallery. It was loaded with heartwarming then-and-now photos of dogs that used to live in shelters.

Almost unrecognizable

While the challenge was meant to spread good vibes, some people couldn’t help but feel heartbroken. The reason behind this being, most of the “before” photos showed the poor state the dogs were in. It crushed their hearts seeing how emaciated, wounded, and furless most of the dogs used to be.

Almost all of the dogs were unrecognizable in the “after” photos, too. It was proof that a dog’s life changes once they become part of loving families. It’s not just the physical appearance of these pups that changes, but their emotional well-being as well. They become more energetic, confident, and playful.

Those were definitely just a few of the things people noticed when they saw Koda’s picture. He’s a beautiful white pup who used to be extremely scared of people. He wouldn’t let anyone come near him during his first few weeks at his fur parents’ home.  Fast forward to some years later; he now loves getting hugs and kisses from his favorite humans. He’s also no longer the walking skeleton he once was!

Dobby’s another dog who won people over with his unbelievable transformation. When his fur parents got him, he barely had any fur on him. His skin was also wrinkly; he looked too old for his age. It looked absolutely different from his after photo, where he was all smiles and covered in fur!

Call to action

As people browsed through each before-and-after photo, they realized that there was more to the challenge than meets the eye. They decided to use the challenge to spread awareness and encourage people to welcome shelter dogs into their homes.
