Firefighters save lives on a daily basis all over the globe. They risk their own lives to save others, even animals. And their heroic acts deserve so much recognition. In China, a video has gone viral because one firefighter gave CPR to an unconscious dog who he has just saved from a burning building.
Get the animals out first!
Emergency services were called in early in the morning when reports came in about a fire that engulfed a building in Hefei City in the Anhui province. The building housed a pet store with around 20 dogs and cats inside. The animals were in cages, and the store was still closed. No one was inside to help the creatures get free.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they knew that they had to make the pet store their priority. They brought out their tools and pried open the metal gate of the store. Thick black smoke was already seeping out from every possible opening.
Once the gates were open, they carefully rushed in to bring out the cages. One of the firefighters was even heard shouting to move the pets outside first before using their water hose. Working together, the firefighters quickly grabbed the pets and passed it on to get them to fresh air and away from the scorching heat.
Some of the animals were already unconscious because of smoke inhalation. That is when one of the brave men took the pooch out of his cage, laid him on the ground, and started administering CPR. He gently pumped the dog’s tiny chest and gave him oxygen through their respirators. A few moments later, the dog responded and became conscious.
Some of the firefighters were also helping the animals by wiping the soot from their faces. They were using damp towels also to cool down their body. Thanks to these brave men, the pets were saved from being burned.
