Blaze, The Labrador With Changing Fur Color

Blaze, The Labrador With Changing Fur Color

Scott Fannin June 4, 2020

The world is filled with lots of fantastic dogs. Sadly, though, there is not enough time to meet each of them in person. Thankfully, through social media, we can now admire these exceptional pooches from afar. That includes the adorable Labrador named Blaze.

A few weeks ago, Santeri Frilander posted Blaze’s photo on a Facebook group. The picture showed the pup sitting next to the dining table, which his dad said was his favorite place in the house. The image may look ordinary to some, but it received over 32,000 reactions and thousands of comments and shares.

What made the photo so special was the 10-year-old dog’s distinctive mottled black and white fur. However, about a year ago, this pup from Finland looked nothing but an ordinary gorgeous black Lab. It was only a few months ago when Santeri noticed that some white patches were starting to develop on his dog’s ear.

Eventually, the white patches spread across Blaze’s body. Now, there is more white fur than black on the handsome fellow’s shoulders. Fear not though because this adorable dog is as healthy as ever. Blaze’s changing fur color is merely a result of vitiligo, a condition where the skin loses its pigment and is more common among humans.

Remember to smile and be positive. This is Blaze. He is a black labrador. He is happy.

According to Santeri, all of Blaze’s siblings are still single-colored. Because of his age and new look, Blaze has also earned himself a few nicknames like “the old man” as well as “the funny old man.” However, contrary to that, Blaze still loves to go out and about.

Santeri said that Blaze is a very energetic guy. He loves to walk in the woods, swim in the lake, and have some fun outside. Blaze loves meeting people and putting a smile on their faces too. He may not know it, but at this moment, he has already made thousands of people across the globe happy. With that said, mission accomplished, Blaze!
